Two frosts

Two frosts, two native brothers — a frost Dark blue-nose and a frost Red-nose walked across the field.

Frosts walk-walk up and down, the friend to the friend praise. And night light, light. It is spacious to frosts on an ox.

And it is silent, so it is silent, as if live soul does not remain on light. Have run across frosts from a field on wood. Run, click, from a tree on a tree jump, frighten. From wood in village have dropped in and allow to shoot on roofs!

— , — speaks a frost Dark blue-nose, — all were hid, afraid on a court yard .

— Let somebody only will get out — we will frighten it, — the frost Red-nose answers.

Began to dawn. Has tumbled down from pipes a smoke dense. Wells have begun to creak. men from huts. Who to thresh has gone, who in wood on fire wood gathers.

— Pogodi, the brother, — has told a frost Red-nose. — give we will run with you on road in the field.

Also they have run again in the field. Stand near, for travellers wait.

Sledge on road have begun to creak. Has rung out somewhere under .

In sledge the peasant sits, sends on errands. And behind sledge floats, rings.

— Well, wait a moment, — speaks a frost Dark blue-nose. — you run for the muzhik, and I for the sir.

Also they have run travellers to freeze.

Long the frost Dark blue-nose while with the sir has caught up ran. At last has caught up, under a fur coat has climbed. Heat expels therefrom. The sir shrinks, feet feel chilly, the cold on a body has gone, the nose has turned blue. And the frost Dark blue-nose only laughs. Hardly to death of the sir has not frozen.

And the frost Red-nose has caught up with the peasant and allow it to freeze.

— , the frost does not joke, — the peasant speaks. Tears it from sledge, stamps feet, on shoulders hands claps. Has run so from half-verst, to it and hot became. Villages to itself in sledge, goes — and burning it is not enough.

— Well, , the brother: I will get at you when fire wood you will cut.

The person in wood has called in. And the frost Red-nose has overtaken it, in wood waits. the peasant, the axe took yes as has started to cut — hot became it. Has dumped a casing. And the frost was delighted: has climbed in a casing and allow there white to weave.

Has made a casing white as snow.

The person has cut fire wood, to a sheepskin coat goes, and it all was frosted over.

— , the brother, yes you here?

Took yes as began to thresh — hardly live the frost Red-nose has jumped out and is direct in wood.

Red-nose the frost has become angry about the peasant, but anything with it cannot do.
